Welcome to the city of Spirekassle on the planet Urf, home to the wizard Pewfell Porfingles, his incredible warrior wife, and the small blue gnome who squats in their sideboard. Pewfell's an irresponsible slacker who spends too much time at the pub. He scratches out a living selling potions and, when things get really desperate, going on adventures.

In this first issue: Meet Pewfell, slacker wizard, drugstore clerk and inhabitant of the fabulous city of Spirekassle on the planet Urf. When his wife, Tina the warrior Princess, has to take a month off due to a shortage of orc settlements to pillage, Pewfell must find new ways to supplement his income...

This first volume comprises issues #1-4 of the Pewfell comic book series. It's made up of short stories and one-off gags. Volume 2 "For the Love of Hornbag" (issues #5-8) is more plot-driven, and the first major story arc concludes in "What Happens in Vagus" (issues #9-14). Volume 4 "Drain of Chaos" complies issues #15-20 and forms another complete story arc. The current story, entitled "Green Achers", begins in issue #21.

Pewfell began as a self-published 'zine in the early 1990s, and became a daily webcomic around the year 2000. In 2001 it was picked up by professional webcomics portal, which is where the material from issue# 9 onwards first appeared. A series of black & white print editions were put out by Wingnut Games in the mid 2000's. Color print editions are now also available from Planet Urf Entertainment here on DriveThru.

Pewfell is still ongoing, and new issues are added here on DriveThru as they are completed. For the very latest strips, becaome a Pewfell patron at and you'll get the newest episodes sent direct to you.

I am also the creator of the boardgame 'Legitimacy', published by Minion Games, available here on DriveThru in a Print-on-Demand Edition. I've illustrated a bunch of other boardgames for Minion, including 'Those Pesky Humans', 'Tahiti', 'Grave Business', 'Battle Merchants' & 'Nile'. I also did all the cartoons for Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG rulebook, and a bunch of artwork for several of their DCCRPG modules. Follow the links to find them on DriveThru.

Solid laughs, funny characters, and ludicrous plot points from start to finish.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
