Then, float off into a meditation about dissociation, identity, and beauty in Jacey Chase’s haunting and beautiful “Far Away.” AJ O. Mason and Luca Cicognola join forces next in “My Giant Strange Friend,” a dark yet uplifting story about a friendship that survives abuse and trauma—whether it’s real or imaginary. Discover how the zombie apocalypse—and a redemptive graphic novel that transforms a chicken wrestler into a savior in the introduction to Jayel Draco’s graphic novel, “Mr. Guy: Zombie Hunter.” And journey into the deep forest with a delightful polyamorous trio venture into magical adventures in the first half of “Detour” by Allison Bannister and Tom O’Brien.

Next, take a dark look into a world where medicine, addiction, and blood have become complicated bedfellows in the first eight pages of “Ziegler Box” by Chaka Freeman, Vicente Alcazar, Nouri Zander, and Greg Gallagher. Return to the vast fantasy universe of Children of Gaia in “Carrying Iron,” and visit an underworld of shady deals meet otherworldly fae music in a short comic from Peter Lampasona and D.L. Johnson.

Then, Oneshi Press debuts its Poets and Artists series as Jenny Williamson’s melancholic yet empowering poem “Lungs and the Ghosts of Lungs” meets Libby Bacon’s figurative artwork. In “A Tale of Good Intentions” by Patricia Loupee and Amy Hay, a superhero’s best instincts lead her astray when she finds herself in a far more complex situation than she can handle. Then, in the first eight pages of LaNada Peppers and James Mason’s “Quantum,” a Northern Cheyenne woman discovers that her sister has gone missing at the same time that she notices strange new abilities. Can she save her sister while learning to control her superpowers? Finally, begin the third arc of Lynsey G. and Jayel Draco’s ongoing series, PACK, with one rookie police officer’s attempt to bring six stray dogs—and one stray man—to heel, and instead gets a lesson in how the PACK takes care of its own.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
