Project Cassandra: Psychics of the Cold War
Publisher: LunarShadow Designs

Not much in the way of character creation, although the sample characters are ready for play. The setup for mission generation is a neat idea. The setting is evocative, but there is little discussion as to why the Cold War was chosen over any other time. This does mean a GM could port it to just about any postwar period.

Has a lot of information, but the writer needs a better grasp of how Gumshoe works.

Achtung! Cthulhu - Zero Point - Code of Honour
Publisher: Modiphius
by Michael D. [Verified Purchaser]

Like the rest of the Achtung! Cthulhu lines, a comprehensive sourcebook for what covers - in this case, World War Two Istanbul. Just as nice are the mechanics for generic espionage situations and operating in a nest of spies. The scenario is more free-form than most of the others in the line, and Keepers might need to lead players who get bogged down.

In closing, a GUMSHOE version would make it perfect!

Treasure Hunter
Publisher: Broken Ruler Games
by Michael D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/09/2008 19:43:00

Treasure Hunter is a d20 Modern campaign kit for pulpy adventures in the style of Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider. It is notable for adding quite a bit in the rules department towards the genre, like using the Reputation score to allow access to restricted areas. Chase rules are included as well. Quite a bit of fluff, in the form of cool settings and advice, appears too. Its standard of fidelity to a "real-world" setting where magic is subtle and often off-screen (again, think Indy) is admirable.

Additionally, many feats and spells from other variations of d20 rules are included (especially nice is the section of typical traps for many levels). However, some of these additions are not checked for their suitability to a "real-world" setting (for example, several of the traps use purple worm poison instead of selecting a toxin from the main book or web enhancement).

Still, the good far outweighs the bad; especially at the price.
