Encounter Critical III

love it. goes great with the Cha'alt series and meshes well with Crimson Dragon Slayer D20 system differs with character creation and advancement. Encounter Critical characters start at level 1 with a hefty list of abilities and would advance at level 7, whereas Crimson Dragon Slayer system gives you few abilities but get more at every odd level. Being an OSR type product a GM/Player can mix and match the elements of the systems to create some unique races and classes for Encounter Critical. Yes, Vanth is toast and all the refugees have come to Cha'alt and Alpha Blue. Much like any other table, its your game. Vanth may still exist unscathed. A good addition and spin on current popular culture as well

get cha'alt, get all 3. Cha'alt is chock full of gonzo sci fi goodness, sleaze, and humor. NPC stat blocks are easy to plug into any OSR system. Reccomended. Not for the feint at heart.

Great beer and pretzels game that works great for one-shots and plays like a cinematic action spy movie. I especially like the pregame picture collage as an innovative way for the Director (GM) to come up with scenarios. The book is chock full of inspiration and tips to run an action spy thriller. Highly narrative. There is potential for campaign play that i have not yet explored. Only minor quib i have are the Skills. While pretty much self explanatory they don't get a section by itself that briefly explain what they could be used for but i get the idea of what they are used for with all the info scattered in the book.

Titan Effect RPG

The wait is over! The Titan Effect setting captures a slick modern-near future-conspiracy-action thriller-science fiction espionage genre akin to Met@l Ge@r S0lid. As part of a team you play a psychic SPEAR (world police!) operative put up against various factions that plan to dominate the world (or other nefarious plans) with their various bio augmented soldiers and psychics that come in a variety of flavors from super soldiers to neo therianthropes (werebears and werewolves oh my!). It's a really cool setting for Savage Worlds that yall should check out!

Ghost Ops - A Modern Day Covert Ops RPG

A great simple system that utilizes fate/fudge dice, skill ratings, and target numbers. It could very well be Rainbow6 The RPG. Handlers (the GM) can build an impressive campaign drawing inspiration from squad action based tv shows/movies (Strike Back, The Unit, Sicario etc.). I hoped for more Unique Talents to choose from. Other than that this game feels solid.

Great beer and pretzels rpg. Fast and fun, this light rpg system (BOL Barbarians of Lemuria 2d6) allows players to get in quick on the action. The overall theme of the game feels like every 70s-00s action movie ever made from The Delta Force to The Expendable. As a GM you could easily craft missions and scenes inspired by the ActionAdventure genre. What is even better is that the system is not limited by this genre. For example, in the first oneshot game I ran as a GM, the PC's recovered WMDs that were....not from this world! Injecting SciFi elements. Heck yeah! DOW can easily support long term campaign play especially with an invested GM/players There are no long lists of charts or cross checking tables and the system mechanic is easy to grasp. As a guy with a busy schedule, I don't have 4 hours to run through ONE combat scene (looking at you other rpgs), so for me DOW hits that spot for 2-4 hours for an adventure. Get this game!
