A legend, a true classic.
Chances are, you've heard of Delta Green. If not, and you're an enthusiast of Call of Cthulhu, you're in for a treat.
Delta Green is simply the best way to play Lovecraftian horror in the modern era. It takes the Cthulhu Mythos, throws out the tired model of out-of-their-depth academics and gumshoes investigating cosmic horrors, brings it into the 1990s, adds in a touch of urban legend, a bucketful of government conspiracy and UFO-conspiracy legends, blends it seamlessly with Lovecraft, and above all else, creates a real reason why investigators might actually risk mind and body to fight the things from beyond time and space.
Gone are the sleepy antiquarians, and college professors. They've been replaced by a cellular-style government conspiracy, composed of agents from a variety of law enforcement and investigative agencies, running from the money men at FinCEN, to Park Rangers, to FBI special agents, to US Marshals.
Without giving too much away, the book is broken into a series of chapters, detailing Delta Green, most of its main adversaries, a lengthy set of appendices including guidelines for creating investigators from an alphabet soup of Federal agencies, and capped off with two excellent adventures and a short campaign.
