I'm a pretty new GM (well I GM'd about 20 years back and had a major period of not playing) and grabbed this as I wanted to design a goblin lair for my players. Building up multiple stat blocks for different versions of different iterations of the same base creature takes a lot of time and to be completely honest I've still not completely got my head around it.

This book has really helped me to populate a lair quickly and easily in a way that will give my players a really varied feel. I'm confident that I won't give my players too easy a time or end up with a TPK (because I know the CR ratings will be right, if I'd done it they might not be) and it didn't take hours and hours to build them all individually.

I also decided to run Dyson's Delve recently for the kids and converting an old school AD&D module featuring lots of goblins. Again this let me quickly pick a set of varied goblins that work together and feel different. Lots of time saved and a good feel for my players.

I've bought a lot of Raging Swan stuff in recent months and I've always been impressed with the quality both of the material and the layout, this is no exception.

The first instalments of the 100% Crunch series for the Pathfinder RPG focused on presenting statistics and combat details based on an individual template. This product, 100% Crunch - Goblins, takes another path, and instead offers statistics focused on a single creature type - goblins. And, I'm very pleased to say that it works very well. This product presents an eclectic and interesting group of goblin creatures, with excellent builds and lots of flavour built into each design through carefully crafted mechanics.

100% Crunch - Goblins presents nearly 50 goblins in a CR range from 1/4 to 5. The CR range is kept deliberately low, and I have to agree with the notion that CR 10 or higher goblins don't really need to feature in a game with enough higher level challenges. The goblins cover a wonderful range of classes and abilities, both NPC and PC classes, and each one is crafted with good attention to detail. Even when the classes are similar, the choice of weapons, armor or the use of class archetypes personifies each goblin uniquely. On this front, the product has done excellent well.

I think this product has been done splendidly. I've always been a fan of the Pathfinder goblin, and this product stays true to the concept and provides some wonderful combinations. Each goblin creature has its own 'title' from goblin scouts, to goblin shadow sorcerers, to the fearful goblin abomination. I love these little titles, as they're really useful when gaming. Instead of calling each goblin by a number, this nomenclature (if one could call it that) allow one to easily identify the different goblins on the battlefield.

If you're interesting in goblins and are looking for some excellent goblin builds, this product is well worth a look. I truly relished looking through each of the builds, and appreciating the care and attention that had gone into making each one different and true to the goblin concept. A great product, and one I would recommend.

The latest issue of the 100% Crunch-series does many things different from its predecessors and clocks in at 23 pages, with 1 page front cover, 1 page advertisement, 2 pages editorial, 1 page ToC/foreword, 1 page how-to-read-statblocks for new DMs, 1 page SRD and 1 page back cover, leaving us with 15 pages of content, so let's take a look!

As with all 100% Crunch-pdfs, we get a table of the CRs and statblocks in the beginning - that's, though, where the similarities end: Whereas until now the series has dealt with undead and templates, this one deals with a type of humanoid, namely goblins. Which is great timing-wise, since the new campaign I will kick off these days will actually feature a LOT of goblins in the low-levels. That being said, what exactly do we get here?

Beyond basic goblin racial traits, we kick off with goblin children and females at CR 1/4 and CR 1/3 respectively, with experts and warriors making up the basic rank-and-file soldiers at CR 1/3. The goblin cleric provided has access to the trickery and evil domains. Now if you didn't like the fact that the Rise of the Runelords anniversary edition changed goblin battledancers from warrior/experts to bards, then you're in luck, for this pdf actually provides a statblock that is a direct translation of this classic build to PFRPG. Goblin Drummers make use of the savage skald archetype and while the rank and file creatures usually use warrior and expert-levels for their build, there also are progressions of PC-classes - skirmishers use e.g. the mobile fighter-archetype, whereas sorceror-builds use the shadow bloodline.

Goblin cavalry (roughriders) are part of the deal as well in multiple CR-regions. Druids get two different builds in here, with the wolf shaman (including animal companion!) and cave druid offering different foci on druidic magic. Now we also get a goblin two-handed fighter, barbarian and ranger builts, a poisoner/fighter multiclass (nice one!) and also what I'd call the goblin-abomination-build (after its highest CR-member): The Half-fiendish goblin antipaladin! Have I mentioned the goblin sniper as well? The CRs span the regions from CR 1/4 to CR 5.

Conclusion: Editing and formatting are top-notch as I've come to expect from Raging Swan press. Layout adheres to RSP's no-frills, crisp 2-column b/w-standard and the two b/w-artworks, while I've seen them before, are neat indeed. The pdf comes fully bookmarked and in two versions, one optimized for the printer and one optimized for screen-use. All right, you'll probably think, here we go again - the obligatory array of complaints regarding class diversity... No, not this time. Why? Well, every gobbo knows that writing steals words, so wizards, magi and clerics would be rather weird. Gobbo paladins, inquisitors, monks and cavaliers would be downright weird and gunslinger goblins would probably just blow themselves up. This severely limits what kind of classes one can expect from this pdf - and while I would have loved to see an oracle, a witch or a summoner in here (perhaps as alternate chieftains at the higher levels?), the builds per se are surprisingly varied. When I heard about the series being more tightly focused in future installments, I feared for the worst, but the amount of thematically-fitting archetypes and multiclass-progressions in this pdf somewhat alleviates my concerns - especially the antipaladin-builts are a delight and seeing actual animal companions feature in the book is neat indeed as well. That being said, I still would have loved to see an insane goblin- oracle or a twisted goblin summoner in these pages. Still, for what it offers, it is a nice addition to the line, with not much to complain about - my final verdict will reflect this and clock in at 4.5 stars, rounded down to 4 for the purpose of this platform.

Endzeitgeist out.

Oh no, not MORE goblins!

Well, maybe, but these are hand-crafted original goblins not the run-of-the-mill straight out of the Bestiary ones, a whole forty-two different ones ranging from an infinetesimal CR (look, he's only a child!) up to CR 5, all ready for the busy GM to fish out and put in front of the characters.

After a bit of goblin ecology - including the fact that they are scared of horses, something I didn't know before - we're straight into the tables, organised by CR. Each one has a full stat block with a short description and all manner of other notes to personalise him (or her), taking them out of the cannon-fodder category and providing you with instant goblin NPCs.

"You see a male goblin covered in mud and with many twigs stuck to its leather armour, this small skinny humanoid looks vaguely ridiculous..." OK, stop laughing at the poor fellow, this is a goblin scout, he may only be worth 135 XP, but you'll remember the encounter with him, won't you?

Each has his own class and skills, and personalised possessions as well as the wonderful descriptions.

You and your players may be a bit jaded with goblins, revitalise your enounters with this little lot!
