"Stardust the Super Wizard is a name spoken in hushed whispers throughout the universe, He uses his vast knowledge of interplanetary science and sorcery to monitor all inhabited worlds, and when he finds beings he considers exceptionally evil or vile, he dispenses the justice he feels they deserve. Once you've incurred the wrath of the Super Wizard, you are done for!"
For many now the Nuelow games universe setting has been one that we've been dipping into for many years. A combination of public domain comic book series & supplement the whole book is more then the combination of its parts. This formula is one that allows Nuelow to flesh out characters such as Stardust The Super Wizard; "Stardust the Super Wizard from NUELOW Games collects six tales from the Golden Age of Comics by one or its most eccentric and erratic creators, Fletcher Hanks. Although he only worked in comics for a brief time during 1939 to 1941, the over-the-top nature of his work left...

Too many artists let their sketches and concept ideas lie fallow in their notebooks once the finished product is out in the world (assuming it gets to that point). This is unfortunate, as the twists, turns, and dead ends of a project can say a lot about the character thereof. So it is with *The Art of Pepper&Carrot*, as we see through character design what archetypes and personalities characters were curated to have or simply evolved into. So too with locations and magical creatures. All this is presented through well-picked font and graphic choices. I only wish there was yet more (and if you [also feel](https://matrix.to/#/!RNLIIDilczGsGhFHDV:matrix.org/$16- 04318291580918kYIhw:matrix.org?via=matrix.org&via=grin.h- u&via=chat.weho.st) that the details of the magical world of Hereva are fascinating, they can be perused at a community [wiki](https://peppercarrot.com/en/static8))....

A sequel of sorts to Shadow out of Innsmouth, and a good one at that. The art style is fitting to the setting, the pacing is well suited to the story, and the wait till the next issue is released is torturous. I'm eagerly awaiting Issue 2

Abut half of this book (around 14 pages) is actual story. Rest consists of ads, credits pages, dividers, multiple title pages and so on.
I felt that the story did not flow smoothly. It was hard to follow, jumped around without rhyme or reason. There was little progression from cause to effect. Text and images did not always worked together, felt like those were concentrated more on setting a mood, than telling a story. I felt the story didn't take advantage of everything the comicbook have to offer as a visual medium.
Furthermore I feel like hermetic choice of subject matter will not appeal to broader audience not intimately familiar with the broader cultural background.
The black and white heavy ink-style art was decent enough. So that's a plus.
Personally - not my cup of tea....

For a large part of this book, I had very little idea what was going on. That's not a criticism, it's all part of what makes this a creepy masterpiece. It's really well written - you hear the main character's London accent clearly in your head, not because of any awkward-looking attempt to write it phonectically; but just because the phrasing feels so authentic and natural. The art perfectly complements the surreal and eerie plot; somehow looking cartoonish and yet grimly bleak at the same time.
One of the most enjoyable comics I've read in a while....

Some fantastic articles in the book. I was really enjoying it when I got to an article about basing your world on real world cultures that just felt awful. The author argues that your audience wants a world based on European mythologies because that's what they know, and that you can make your setting more exotic by adding Asian tropes and stereotypes.
Considering how I got this book to hopefully get some good advice on building a world based on a real-world non-european civilization, I found this advice very insulting and problematic.
I checked the author of the article to avoid any other articles by him and found that literally 1/3 of the book was written by the same person.
I had been enjoying the book up to that point (hence the 2 stars rather than 1) but that article really took all the excitement of the rest of the book away from me....

If you like steampunk or humor, look no further.
This series is filled with great characters and explores an alternate world-Europe where a young girl finds that all she knew about herself is wrong. While I can appreciate the color versions, the series originated as B&W, and for the price is a great introduction for those unfamiliar with the series. Be warned: it is addictive, and you may be forced to laugh aloud.

If you're a longtime fan of both Vampire the Masquerade and comic books, this is a must buy.
Finally you can read a high quality comic book set in the VtM universe.
-The tone is good, there is no shunning of the darker elements but also no puerile indulging on them. The personal drama is there, but in a measured way which is good in my book.
-There is not much meat of the story in this first issue, due the decompression techniques of modern comic books. So it's hard to give an opinion on the main plot.
-The two main protagonists aren't that great or original, but they work and they're cool enough and they avoid the usual tropes and stereotypes overused for female leads. So overall it's a good point for me.
-There are a few very good strong sequences that can inspire your games if that's what you're looking for. Really liked them.
Four stars instead of five because:
-From this starting point it looks like the scope of the story will be rather limited....

I'm a little tired of the Judge Death stuff, but I respect how the comic continues to reinvent things rather than telling the same story over and over. Another great collection of Dred strips!

More excellent Dredd comics! The Complete Case Files are all excellent reads, and it really helps an American like me to get a better sense of how Dredd slowly evolved over time.
The story turns a little more serious and interconnected here, but there are still some funny bits (including some thinly-veiled swipes at superhero comics). The art jars at one point -- I think a comic produced later was jammed into the ongoing storyline -- but still a good collection.
