Irrational Numbers #4: Subtraction book 4 of 5 This issue is the setup for the final issue. While the focus is if the 2 Vampire Nations can come together to stop Pythagoras? Hasdrupal is a nice addition to this issue. We see he has been around a long time and has stayed under the radar. He has chosen to NOT pick sides and continue through the years in peace. Vlad is an interesting character. While he is appreciative he will become a traitor. Medea and Sofia think they have everything figured out. Do they think that they can outsmart Pythagoras even with an army? The dialogue is clear and Tabu keeps it fresh and a little intense. The artwork and coloring reflect the mood of the story and the quality level is on point. ...

Irrational Numbers #3: Subtraction book 3 of 5 Yes, The Reaper is Pythagoras. While we were left with a cliffhanger in Issue 0; the reader was to assume he died. He wanted everybody to think he was dead. We find out what Pythagoras has been up to all of these years. While he tried to bond with his new eternal life; there seemed to be challenges. He We see Pythagoras transform over the years and the path he chose. Ending Vampire Nation was apparent as the years went by. Irrational Numbers #2: Subtraction book 2 of 5 I am not going to tell you how this issue plays out too much and spoil the twist. The nations continue to fight. Maybe a truce is in the cards for Medea and Sofia. They seem so involved in their own life and wants; they really keep missing the bigger picture. Losing Zalmoxis should have been a clue to step back and unite. Great use of the panels. F. Caracuzzo continues to use the colors to highlight the importance of each part of the story. G. Caracuzzo helps the reader to be invested in vampire nation and how it will turn out with fine artwork. Tabu continues to deliver the goods. ...

Irrational Numbers #1: Subtraction book 1 of 5 Issue 0 left us with a cliffhanger. The gift of eternal life has been given to Pythagoras. Not that Pythagoras was given the choice. The decision was made by Sofia, Medea and Zalmoxis. Issue 1 skips centuries ahead. It is now 1948. Vampire Nation is in full force. One group is headed by Sofia and the other by Medea. It is quite clear they are at war. The twist comes in with The Reaper destroying vampires. Who is the Reaper? What and who is he or she? Is it an army of humans or ? We will have to see that answer in the next issue. The writer piques our interest so we can start guessing. This issue shows the problems that the 2 Vampire leaders continue to have and how Zalmoxis decides to deal with. Good issue. Tabu has established each character with their strengths. ...

Irrational Numbers #0: Addition
by SAM R.
Publisher: Wunderman Comics

Irrational Numbers #0: Addition A first issue with 52 pages is a terrific idea. The writer Hannibal Tabu wastes no time in getting you involved with the characters. Tabu also allows the reader time to understand the depth of the characters and bond with them. The page layouts are nicely done. The artist Giancarlo Caracuzzo takes the words and makes the story visually appealing. I truly think Caracuzzo had fun with this story line. The colorist Flavia Caracuzzo was successful of using the colors to match the intential effect of each time period. Leterring by Josephine Roberts was clean, easy to read and precise. This vampire issue has been set up well to intrigue the reader to continue the story and journey of Pythagoras and Zalmoxis. We see the character Sofia and Medea enter towards the end of the issue. This seems like an interesting "team"...

Scoundrel #4 Don't want to spoil the ending as this is the last issue of this mini series. Does Hector give up his party life? Does he find love? Can he put the past behind him? I can't say I really ever warmed up to Hector is this series. We see a little of his human side but his actions make you forget that he doesn't really care about anything. You feel sorry for Gus and you are happy he finally wakes up. Catalina is a great character. She definitely did not disaappoint. The ending was somewhat of a surprise. The writer has done an amazing job of creating a connection with each of these characters. The colorist stays on point throughout and gives you the subtle and somber feeling. The artist is magnificent with his facial expressions! Overall, a fun creative team that looks very promising!...

Scoundrel #3 The writer does a great job providing an interesting and compelling hook. You want to keep reading each issue just to see what Hector will do next. He doesn't disappoint. He is always doing something and it's not good. This issue brings a couple twists that make it wonder what went wrong with Hector? Getting $15 million should have been the best thing that ever happened to him but we see it's not. Seeing Sarah definitely was a big turning point. Office life is something that Hector can't handle and makes a big decision. The colors are vital in presenting this 80s period and colorist has done a great job! The artist makes us feel like we are in the 80s. Last issue coming up. Definitely buying!...

Scoundrel #2 Hector has his race and even decided to bet on it. Not sure why he thoght that was a good idea. Maybe the money and drugs are getting to him. Scoundrel #1 The first pages of this issues opens up with a POW! The writer gets straight to the point. Hector is the main character and has just lost his parents. You want to feel sorry for him but his actions make you wonder how sad he really is... in this issue. The reading of the parent's will give Hector and his brother 50/50 of all assets and money. You can already tell they are totally different. Of course, there is a catch in the will. They both have to work in their parent's company to receive the inheritance. You can see from the get go, working is not on Hector's mind. His best friend from youth seems to be the only stable thing in his life. Gus (best friend) is just Hector's shadow. Trying to keep his friend grounded is going to be a challenge. Hector wastes no time. He wants the things his conservative parents never provided. He buys a big house. Of course, there is the beautiful neighbor who he meets and opens up doors that probably should have stayed closed. This beauty could b...

He knows he is going to step up his game. The team now has to deal with failure. The bosses are not happy. What else can this team do with their limited skills. The story of boss Prunella is revealed. We see how she came to the Time Corps. We get a surprise entrance of a Spartan from the year 371 BCE. He is in the middle of a battle and he pops into modern day. The encounter of this Spartan on the street by a random guy is a big surprise for him. After some drama, the Spartan moves on. Time Corps #2 Good follow up to Issue #1 . This answered many questions I had after reading the first issue. We see the conclusion of the backstory for Paulina. Paulina becomes the 3rd member to the Time Corps that Boss Prunella Jones calls the "unassignables". These 3 come from very different periods in time and will be interesting to see how the writer weaves them into the story. We get a better idea of what the Time Corps is and how people like Paulina, Smoke Jaguar and Garabaldi are chosen. We also see more backstory on Peter. Peter is on a mission to change history. His story is a love story. The love of his life is gone. He knows she could have been saved had it not been for some pharmaceutical company being greedy. The medicine would have been a lifesaver and the pharma company chose not to release it. While Peter gets the satisfaaction of exposing the company and monetary gain; this does not make him feel much better or change the fact his love Sheila is dead. We see how Peter chooses to us...

Worlds Without Master, Volume 1, Issue 3

Worlds Without Master, Volume 1, Issue 3 Curious about Swords without Master? I was too, the name kept popping up in conversations but I never really got a chance to check it out, until recently. I found that I needed to closely read the rules and it took a second read through to start to understand the finer points of the system, especially how the players interact with it as the character creation is spread out through out the book in sidebars. Aside from this minor gripe, I heartily recommend checking this game out. SWM concerns itself more with the structure of your story and less with the fiddly details of combat or skill checks. The three phases of the game each create a natural back and forth at the table and give everyone a chance to add to the fiction of the game. You should play this game if you are interested in creating tight short story sessions and want to be suprised even as the GM by where the story takes you. The community for Swords without master is active on Discord and Google +, the Author a...

SCAII.2 Cavalier Attitude Cavalier Attitude is an excellent publication. With this issue, I really enjoyed the description of the Shadow Gnome and the location The Crystal Tavern. Both excellent resources for the busy GM to work into his or her setting. And, as with other Starry Knight products, the artwork is top notch, showing off the best of the old-school RPG artists.
